Deer chewing on human remains startles scientists

Scientists at the Forensic Anthropology Research Facility at Texas State University wanted to learn more about the nature of human decomposition. So, they scattered human remains across more than 26 acres of land. But what they found was really disturbing.

When they were going through the video footage the scientists expected to capture photos of wild animals interacting with the human remains, but watching a white-tailed deer nibbling on a corpse was the last thing they anticipated.

In the wild, deer have been known to devour bones of dead animals, but this is the first documented occurrence of one chomping on human bones.

The body in question had been rotting for over 6 months. After previously being snacked on by vultures, the body was nothing more than dry skeleton by the time the deer decided to consume it.

Scientists had nothing more to say, but deer experts might say it was a revenge for humans eating venison.
